Patina Maldives – an island of wondrous depth

Published 21 十月 2021

In the North Malé Atoll, just 45 minutes from Velana International Airport, four islands form an archipelago of unique quality and character. Luxury resorts inhabit three, while the fourth is dedicated to world-class staff living.

The Fari Islands concept is singular - a pioneering devotion to the human need for diverse and uplifting experiences. And on Patina's island lies Fari Islands' beating heart, the Fari Marina Village that awaits guests from all three resorts.

Patina Maldives, Fari Islands is the inaugural flagship property from sophisticated new lifestyle brand Patina Hotels & Resorts, the latest hospitality concept by Capella Hotel Group. Designed by renowned Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan, Patina Maldives offers 90 contemporary one- to three-bedroom beach and pool villas, alongside 20 Fari studios, all of which embody a harmony of sanctuary and stimulation.

Here, socially and environmentally conscious travellers connect through a depth of beauty, creativity and discovery. The evolving spirit of human nature is given stimulus to sustain its momentum in the form of newness, stillness or vital togetherness.

The spa concept centres on the principle of FLOW, which gives guests insights into their posture, sleep, immunity and perspective on life. The space features specialist Watsu water therapy,  flotation treatment rooms, a couple's hammam suite and salon. At FLOW specialist therapists use seaweed-based skin and body care products by Haeckles and Malibu brand Osea, to nourish and restore the skin’s strength and glow. Wellness is further promoted through a partnership with Nourish3D who have created bespoke 3D printed vitamin blends to ensure the Patina guest is relaxed and energised in order to enjoy the best of what the islands have to offer.

Environmental harmony is central to this venture. Villas offer marine-harvested skin care and fragrances, Fab Lab enables younger guests to 3D-print models from recovered ocean plastic and PADI-certified instructors can take guests shark spotting, an opportunity also offered to local children to raise awareness of the ocean's fragility. All kitchens operate a zero-waste policy, no single-use plastics are used, all electrical power is generated on the island using solar energy, produce is grown in the island's organic garden, a conservation team protects and propagates corals and the resort support's the rescue and rehabilitation of turtles.
