Your guide to the 2024 Thailand Charter Show
Published 07 十月 2024
The Thailand Charter Show is an international event that draws visitors and exhibitors from around the world and serves as an annual meet for yachts based in the region. It helps to boost boating tourism to the country, promote the local talent, and encourage engagement between yachts, marine industry players, sponsors, and professional visitors in an intimate environment. It’s also the ideal place to find the best yacht to charter in Thailand’s stunning waters.
Thailand Charter Show key details
The Thailand Charter Show is South East Asia’s number one charter show. The luxury event provides a platform both charter and brokerage yachts — from 12m day-charter yachts to 55m luxury superyachts — situated in the heart of Thailand’s coveted cruising grounds.
Venue
Thailand’s Phuket Yacht Haven marina is the ideal venue to host the premier yachting event. Its superb facility has deep-water access — a 5m draft — and the capacity to berth 320 boats of up to 100m. Participating in the show are a large range of exhibiting yachts based in the region.
Dates and opening hours
The show takes place from 1-3 November 2024, with yachts arriving and setting up for the show from Thursday 30 October. It’s well placed to serve yacht traffic and charter guests looking to book in advance of the high season, which runs from November to May.
Schedule of Thailand Charter Show
The Thailand Charter Show includes a yacht hop on 1 and 2 November, when it's possible to tour yachts on display. On 3 November, there’s also the opportunity for visitors who are accompanied by charter brokers to board a one-day, invitation only cruise aboard participating yachts around Phuket to experience the surrounding charter destinations and get a taste for cruising the glistening Andaman Sea.
Culinary experience
The Phuket Yacht Haven marina is a desirable beach destination, surrounded by powder-fine white sand, warm waters, and a multitude of nearby tropical paradise islands. On-site food and beverages are available. For truly memorable cuisine, nearby Heh’s Australian Thai fusion will not disappoint, with dishes such as charred broccoli with anchovy-miso sauce and crispy fish scales, and succulent charcoal-grilled Australian Wagyu short ribs.
Getting here
Often referred to as the 'Pearl of the Andaman', Phuket is Thailand’s largest island. It has over 900 wet berths, making it suitable for visitors wishing to arrive by boat. Alternatively, there are regular flights to Phuket International Airport from around the world, which is just a 10 minute drive from Yacht Haven marina. That includes charters to the private jet terminal — Siam Land Flying Phuket — which opened in 2021 and offers a seamless runway-to-dock experience.
Other things to do on a yacht charter to Thailand
Aside from indulging in world-renowned spa treatments and breathing in Thailand's natural beauty, a yacht charter in Phuket delivers a wealth of exciting excursions. Pushing deep into the rainforest on an elephant trek is exhilarating, while atop Nakkerd Hill next to the Big Buddha statue, some of the best views around of Phuket Town, Kata beach, Karon beach and Chalong Bay can be savoured. Of course, no itinerary is complete with a yacht hop over to Krabi, where mangroves, cave networks, and small desert islands await.
Explore the limestone cliffs of Phang Nga
Phang Nga Bay's dramatic limestone cliffs are perfect for exploring by kayak. Formed by erosion and weathering over millions of years, many of the formations are inaccessible by land, making them perfect for yachting adventures, not to mention havens for wildlife and breeding sites for various bird species.
Indulge in Thailand’s renowned cuisine
There’s no beating the established restaurants at the exceptional Amanpuri resort, though Dee Plee’s clever reinterpretations of traditional Thai recipes will give it a run for its money, celebrating locally sourced ingredients and Asian flavours. For something even more remote, The Naka Island off the east coast of Phuket is a restaurant and spa offering exotic cuisine on a secluded island setting.
Enjoy the pristine white sand beaches in Phuket
Most of Phuket's beautiful beaches lie on the west coast. There are plenty of bays to let rip on jetskis, indulge in other watersports, or spend time fishing around the islands. But for the best beach relaxation, head to Kata Noi Beach where boutique resort Mom Tri's Villa Royale is well located on a headland overlooking the Andaman Sea. Café del Mar’s beach club experience is another must, bringing a little bit of Ibiza’s laidback style to the shores of Phuket.
Dive into underwater adventures in the Gulf of Thailand
The Similan Islands, including Koh Tachai and Koh Bon, offer world-class diving with some of the best marine life in Asia. For a crazy unexpected wreck dive, the 85m ferry King Cruiser struck Anemone Reef and sank in 1997 with no loss of life and is today a mesmerising artificial reef.
