Neil joined Burgess as General Counsel in 2016. He has worked in the marine industry at a senior management level for over twenty years, focusing on the legal and commercial aspects of the superyacht industry. More recently he was MD of a leading UK based superyacht support and supply business. Neil originally skippered a 22m sail training vessel taking young people to sea, before going on to study Hydrographic Surveying and Marine Navigation where he achieved a 1st Class Honours. After some time in the oil and gas industry, Neil requalified as a marine solicitor and he acted for shipyards and yacht owners on a variety of work before moving into management roles. Neil has contributed to the marine press, presented at international seminars and forums, and is a senior RYA Yachtmaster Examiner.
