James is Head of New Business across the Burgess group. James joined Burgess in 2005 following a 13-year career as a Captain and Navigating Officer in the Royal Navy. His broad range of maritime experience enabled him to quickly build a successful career as a sales broker, with highlights including the sales of ECSTASEA, CAKEWALK and NERO. In 2019 James was made Partner and appointed Head of Retail Charter, responsible for the company’s global team of industry-leading charter brokers. James now combines all this experience as Head of New Business, promoting the full range of Burgess services.

Outside of work, James is a passionate golfer, determined to reach a single figure handicap one day!
