Philip joined Burgess in 2015 as Safety and Security Manager from the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency where he was the director of maritime safety and standards, fulfilling the role of national maritime safety regulator. Here, he advised the government on everything from improving safety in the fishing industry to legislation for oil and gas exploration in deep waters, and the promotion of UK economic growth through shipping and maritime business. Prior to this he was with Carnival UK, where his responsibilities included global operation of the iconic Cunard vessels QE2 and Queen Mary 2. Philip is a master mariner, an MBA and law graduate.
