Description

A capable 38-metre (126ft) tri-deck cruising yacht with excellent pedigree, clean modern-classic lines, good offshore seakeeping and transatlantic range, AFTERGLOW was built in fibreglass by Christensen in 1992. She had a major refit in Seattle in 2016 with a full interior upgrade by Sylvia Bolton Design.

Her outdoor spaces include an elevated observation deck atop the wheelhouse and full walk-around decks on two levels. Covered companionways, sculpted mullions, high-gloss teak capping rails and a laid teak decks add a touch of elegance on the main deck. The main deck aft cockpit has a shaded upper lounge and a lower-level fishing cockpit, with a fixed boarding/bathing platform astern. The upper aft deck has aft-facing outdoor seating and an open-air boat deck astern with launching cranes for tenders and jet skis.

Her interior is configured to host eight guests in four cabins. All new in 2016, it’s finished in honey teak and mahogany joinery with gold, stainless steel, galaxy granite and fine European fabrics. The bright and opulent main deck saloon is the stand-out space with elegant teak sideboards, big picture windows, a comfortable lounge and separate dining area. The aft-facing skylounge on the upper deck is a snug, casual space with TV lounge and study areas.

All four guest cabins have marble-clad bathrooms. She has two full-beam suites: the master cabin up front on the main deck and a VIP suite amidships on the lower deck, each with separate his-and-hers bathrooms. The other two guest cabins are queen-size doubles, also on the lower deck. The separate quarters for a crew of five or six are forward on the lower deck.

She cruises at 12kts with a top speed of 15kts, powered by twin Detroit Diesel 12V-92s with a combined output of 2,080hp. Her maximum range is 2,500nm and she has crossed the Atlantic twice. Three big Northern Lights gensets, a 1,400GPD watermaker and a pair of Naiad stabilisers are fitted.
