Description
The 36.8m (120.7ft) MOTOPANFILO 37M is a revamped yachting concept from Benetti – a resolutely contemporary design that is nevertheless rooted in the Italian shipyard’s heritage and channels the glamour of the iconic Benetti motopanfili – motor yachts in Italian – of the 1960s with a host of subtle design features.
Built in fibreglass to RINA classification, the eye-catching exterior design is a collaboration between Francesco Struglia and Benetti’s own in-house design team. Key design features include a tapered silhouette with clean-cut lines and contours; a bronze-painted chamfer ‘ribbon’ that outlines the aft bulwarks and rises amidships to encircle the upper deck overhang – a reinterpretation of the mahogany capping rails on the mid-20th century motopanfilo – and a fully integrated transom (as opposed to a separate stern platform) with a fold-down transom that opens to reveal a retro-styled beach club with a clamshell folding canopy inspired by the traditional beach shelters of The Hamptons.
Exterior highlights of this yacht include an intimate aft facing double sunpad observation deck above the sun deck hardtop and a large open air pool and sunbathing area on the foredeck. Her 5m tender is kept in a side-launching garage between the beach club and engine room, with space alongside it for a 3.3m jetski.
She has 297GT of internal volume with interior design by Lazzarini & Pickering that references classic Benetti design with exposed structural beams inspired by whale ribs in the saloon and cabins designed to follow the curves of the hull. A standout feature throughout much of the interior is its gracefully curved, light oak-veneered headlining between the structural beams.
The accommodation is designed to host 10 guests in five cabins with separate quarters for seven crew. There’s a full beam owner's suite forward on the main deck, as one would expect, and four guest cabins amidships on the lower deck with the crew area in the bow and a captain’s cabin up top next to the wheelhouse.
Two 1,400hp MAN diesel engines give a top speed of 18 knots. At 10 knots, she has a transatlantic range of around 3,800nm. Zero speed stabiliser
