Under sail, the comfortable open-air lounge seating on her stern offers a superb captain’s eye view of the action while her expert crew work the eight enormous sails and climb the rigging of her towering masts as her elegant clipper bow cuts through the waves. A true thoroughbred yacht, she sails with a majestic, easy motion and a surprising turn of speed.
At anchor, her great expanse of deck space is ideal for dining, entertaining or simply relaxing in a classic teak sun lounger, with ample shade when it’s desired. High gunwales enhance her perfect sheer line and guardrails all round make this a secure place for guests of all ages to stroll around comfortably and for children to safely play. She carries three boats – a large, state-of-the-art Williams jet RIB plus a beautiful pair of traditional sailing and rowing dories and a couple of paddleboards, so there’s plenty of watersports fun when the anchor goes down.
A few steps down the main companionway, the deckhouse is an exquisite, elegant living space built from rare hardwoods with comfortable lounge and dining areas opening onto a modern galley for family-style dining. Brass portholes provide a good view out and lantern skylights flood the whole room with natural light from above. There’s a big TV and an extensive library of movies for cosy evenings on board.
Four spacious double cabins provide comfortable quarters for eight guests, each with a TV and private, marble-clad en suite bathroom. The master suite also includes a jacuzzi tub. The other three cabins have additional single bunks, so she can host eleven guests in total with separate quarters for the crew.
Welcome aboard COLOMBIA. To sail her is to understand why the great families of American high society – the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers and their peers – were, and still are, so passionate about yachting.
