Join Bianca Nestor on board TACOS OF THE SEAS

Published 07 May 2020

Greece is without question one of the best yachting destinations in the world, says Bianca. For some it’s the social hotspots and vibrant party scene that lure as much as the gin-clear turquoise waters, friendly people and golden sun, but there are still parts of it with secluded bays that you can call your own.

After the Mediterranean Yacht Show 2018 in Nafplion, Greece, the owner of the 34.3m (112ft) yacht TACOS OF THE SEAS really wanted to show this cruising ground to international brokers so I was invited to spend four nights on board to experience the yacht and some of the lesser-known gems of the Peloponnese.

THE BROKER

With a degree in Business Management, Bianca worked for the Emirates airline before spending four years as superyacht crew in some of the world’s most sought-after charter destinations. She joined Burgess as a charter broker in 2012, based in our New York office.

THE ITINERARY

The Peloponnese coast is a real change of pace in comparison to the Cyclades where the masses flock to Mykonos and Santorini. From Nafplion we cruised to the quiet anchorage of Tolo for water sports and lunch before spending the night in Leonidio, a sleepy marina overlooked by impressive mountains. We dined at a local restaurant on the quay called Fisherman’s Tavern.

In the morning we anchored at Kyparissi, for more water sports on the jetski, WaveRunner, SeaBobs and toys towed by the 4.5m Williams jet tender, before mooring up in Monemvasia for a guided tour of the old town and the castle. After freshening up on board and toasting the sunset, we had dinner in the old town at Kanoni. On day three we cruised across the Argolic Gulf to the port of Gerakas, which is almost fjord-like in appearance. After spending day four in Hydra and Spetses, two incredible coastal destinations that are not to be missed, we departed for Athens and our flights home.

THE YACHT

TACOS has a wonderful sun deck, primed for al fresco dining and sunbathing with your guests, but more than anything what stands out is the warmth and willingness of the crew to ensure you are enjoying their legendary hospitality as well as their country.

THE CREW

With any well-run company, a good business culture and a positive client experience comes from the top down so we credit the CEO or the President. When it comes to a charter vessel we give the same credit to the captain when guests have a fabulous experience aboard.

I tip my hat to Captain George Ioannou and his team. I remember each and every one of them, particularly Chef Constaninos with his extraordinary culinary abilities!
