A strong 2024 ahead of celebrating 10 years in Asia in 2025

Published 05 March 2025

Burgess’ Asia team had another good year in 2024, despite a combination of geo-political uncertainty, macro-economic challenges, and military activity in the Red Sea resulting in a generally slow brokerage market in the region.

On the brokerage side, they transacted four excellent yachts in 2024: a 55m Amels, a 43m San Lorenzo Explorer, a 42m Ferretti Custom Line Navetta, and a 29m Princess Yachts.

We also witnessed the delivery of another 42m Ferretti Custom Line that the Asia team brokered in 2023. These were all high-quality recent yachts, with the oldest launched in 2018 and the most recent in 2024. The brokerage market in 2025 also looks promising with our Asia central agency fleet comprising five yachts from 35m to 80m.

On the charter side, the team booked multiple charters on yachts ranging from 30m to 73m to various destinations in the Mediterranean, Asia and even Mexico. Our Asia charter fleet currently includes 85m WANDERLUST, 68m STARLUST, and 36m OCTAVE. Working with yachts in the background, our yacht management team in Asia continue to support a wide range of yachts from 36 to 85m.

The whole team is now looking forward to 2025 which, as well as being Burgess’ 50th anniversary, will mark 10 years of Burgess in Asia.

From operating as a ‘start-up’ in 2015, Burgess Asia expanded its network of offices and representatives which now includes Hong Kong, Mumbai, Phuket, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, and an 'Asia desk' in Monaco. At the same time, the Asia team expanded to about 20 colleagues, working closely with Burgess’ global networks of brokers and experts to provide world-class service to its regional customers.

Over the past 10 years, these developments have resulted in an unparalleled track record in the large yachts segment. In brokerage alone, Burgess completed 39 yacht transactions for Asian clients averaging 53m (175ft) in length, which collectively represented a total transaction value exceeding USD 1.5 billion. This included seven yachts above 70m (230ft), of which 3 were transacted in 2023: a 92m Oceanco, a 85m Lurssen and a 74m Amels.

With its strong regional footprint and experienced team of large yachts professionals, Burgess is looking forward to another 10 years of growth and high quality service to its Asia clients.
