PROJECT FOX – Enable your imagination
Published 26 January 2024
The 34.9m (114.4ft) explorer yacht PROJECT FOX features RINA-classed steel and aluminium construction with interior design by QLondon. She is due to launch at the UK’s Pendennis shipyard later in February ahead of delivery in April and the coming summer season. Broker Ian Sherwood points out why, for a client with vision and ambition, PROJECT FOX is a wide-open pathway to possibility.
Why is this a key stage for PROJECT FOX?
‘This is the golden window when a new owner can step in and take control now, before delivery to the current owner in mid to late April,’ says Ian. ‘They can easily have modifications done by the build yard so that the yacht suits the new owner completely.
‘That would leave the new owner with a brand-new, custom-built, northern European yacht ahead of the summer season. That’s the opportunity here. To give that some context, very few shipyards will have anything of a similar size available until well into 2025. Some clients aren’t prepared to wait that long.’
Having followed her build throughout, Ian is excited to see the dream become reality. ‘She looks really good. The exterior is 100 percent finished: fully painted, fully antifouled, the props are on, scaffolding down, decks laid, windows in – she looks really impressive.’
What sets PROJECT FOX apart?
‘The biggest USP is that she’s a 35m (114ft) yacht that can carry two 7.5m (24.6ft) tenders, which is almost unheard of. She could carry a Triton submersible and an ROV, or quadbikes, or even a scientific lab. That’s what such a huge aft deck enables.
'It’s also quite special because there’s going to be a DJ station that plugs into the yacht’s sound system on the upper deck aft, where the open-air dining is, so the whole area becomes a dancefloor overlooked by the DJ.’
How will PROJECT FOX be used?
‘She ticks quite a few boxes. She could be a lovely family explorer. She could be a support yacht for a bigger mothership. She could be perfect for someone who’s young and adventurous, loves to party. With all this space she would be great for a grand prix charter or a film festival charter or even at the Monaco Yacht Show – imagine 150 people having happy hour drinks on the aft deck with a star DJ playing above you!’
Who will buy PROJECT FOX?
‘For me, it’s going to be an independent thinker, someone who wants to do something a little bit different, something mainstream yachting can’t offer.
'Whether that’s supporting Nekton or Yachts for Science by giving up one of the five cabins to scientists to do important environmental research in remote places, or partying around the Mediterranean, who knows? They could be single, could be in a family, could be 40, could be 70. It doesn’t matter, it’s more about the state of mind. If it was me, I’d take the kids out of school, load her up and disappear with a tutor on board.’
What makes PROJECT FOX unique?
‘With an aft deck of this size, 103.5sqm (1,114sqft), it’s worth mentioning that the deck isn’t teak. It’s Tesumo, which is made by a German company using a technique that resulted from a University of Göttingen project with Lurssen.
'It uses fast-growing sustainable wood, specially treated, and it looks, feels and lasts like teak. It matches all the properties of teak except it’s both available and sustainable. In fact, Tesumo tells me that PROJECT FOX is the largest yacht ever to have a full Tesumo deck, which is really positive and forward thinking.’
The brand-new northern European explorer yacht PROJECT FOX offers all this and more for EUR 17,000,000. The window on this very special opportunity will close very soon so to find out more, or to get on board and see her for yourself, please get in touch now.
