Charter a superyacht for Spring Break

Flexibility, privacy, friend or family time, adventure, luxury… you can truly have it all chartering a superyacht this Spring Break. From a weekend of beach-hopping and having fun on the latest watertoys, or simply sitting back, relaxing and enjoying bespoke culinary menus, a superyacht provides the perfect platform on which to disconnect from the hectic pace of life, recharge the batteries, and discover new experiences. Where to go? It all depends on what you’re looking for and who you want to spend the vacation with.

Leave all your term-time stress behind

A superyacht can accommodate groups of friends, families, and couples anywhere in the world. Some cruising grounds are more suited to friend groups wanting to play on the watertoys, with shorter distances between anchorages; while some are more suitable for couples or families looking to escape from the crowds. The same applies to the yacht, with some vessels ideal for groups of friends or multigenerational families with large entertaining spaces and flexible accommodation - talk to our charter brokers about your charter party and itinerary wish list.

SPRING BREAK

Tourist-free in the Balearics

Europe has always been a popular destination for Spring Break, and of all the Western Mediterranean coastlines, the sun-drenched Spanish Balearic Islands can offer some of the best temperatures and weather for a spring charter. Head to these islands for an early-season charter and guests can experience crystal-clear waters and numerous attractions ashore, but all without the crowds of people that you find in high season.

Find your Zen away from the crowds
Find your Zen away from the crowds

Discover the coastline of Mallorca, the largest island in the archipelago, relaxing on the forward deck and perhaps taking a dip in the jacuzzi before heading ashore for lunch or dinner at one of the island’s many Michelin-starred restaurants. Cruise over to explore the scenic coves on the neighbouring island of Menorca and enjoy the slower pace of life, dropping anchor in secluded coves, before crossing to barefoot-chic Ibiza. Here the beach clubs begin to open in May, and April sees quieter anchorages with restaurants and beach clubs hosting soft openings to test the waters with a more discerning clientele.

Charter AQUILA for Spring Break

Charter the 85.6m (280ft) AQUILA in spring and you can enjoy endless activities, impeccable service, tailor-made cuisine, and your very own tailor-made itinerary through the Spanish Balearic Islands. Offering an abundance of deck space divided into sections to cater for different occasions – al fresco dining, relaxing and socializing – AQUILA lets everyone do their own thing.

For example, while you are on the aft deck chatting and sipping cocktails, others can be inside enjoying a movie in the onboard cinema. However, AQUILA also allows for plenty of valuable ‘together’ time. From lazy breakfasts and beach picnics to long, al fresco lunches and time spent enjoying the many watertoys.

Enjoy activities onboard a superyacht

Spend your days relaxing AQUILA, discovering her many amenities. Enjoy sunset cocktails at the day bar on the forward sun deck or some time out on the private owner’s deck. Book in for a massage in one of her two treatment rooms or get ready for a gourmet dinner on board with a blow-dry at the on-board hair salon. And, with only a few beach clubs open at this time of year, take advantage of having your own private beach club aboard and enjoy AQUILA’s fun watertoys.

Waverunners, inflatable towable toys, trampoline, wakeboard and an inflatable waterpark are just some of the watersports  equipment carried on board. And of course, those preferring to keep their feet dry can always try their hand at fishing or take the limousine tender ashore to explore the landscape and culture of these beautiful islands.

Island hopping in the Maldives

There’s a reason that the Maldives are a mainstay in luxury long haul travel – offering year-round temperatures hovering in the high 20s and rarely any rain outside of the monsoon season in November, a little known fact is that these islands actually offer the perfect climate for cruising in spring, when the water is calm and the sky a solid blue. From exclusive resorts, dazzling coral reefs and some of the most fabulous beaches known to man, the idyllic atolls of the Maldives are one of the world’s most unique and coveted cruising grounds.

Summer may be the most popular time for major long-haul getaways, but that doesn’t mean shying away from using your passport to get further afield during Spring Break. When it comes to the ultimate tropical getaway, the islands of French Polynesia in the South Pacific must be up there as one of the world’s ultimate bucket-list destinations. From Tahiti and the atolls of Bora Bora to the islands of Raiatea, Taha’a and Huahine, and the Society Islands, there are a wide variety of similar but also quite different destinations.

Cruise through the Caribbean

Empty beaches, azure waters and friendly locals – what’s not to love about Spring Break in the Caribbean. The island archipelagos of the Caribbean have a little bit of something for everyone. In the Windward archipelago, St. Lucia’s famed Pitons (massive rocky outcrops) provide great hiking opportunities while over in Grenada cocoa plantations invite you to stomp on cocoa beans and make your own chocolate.

Enjoy sunshine and swimming deck side

Jacuzzis and pools are generally a given on the larger superyachts, but the pool aboard TITANIA is definitely an outlier even on a superyacht. Featuring a pool deck bar with seating for up to eight guests, with another four seats in the pool itself, and all complete with a DJ set up, this might well be one of the coolest spots in the world for a Spring Break celebration.

Explore the very best of The Bahamas

The sprawling island nation of The Bahamas lies just 60 miles east of Florida and being so well located near Florida attracts many waterborne weekenders coming for Spring Break. But while it can get crowded ashore, rest assured that for the waterborne with more than 700 islands and thousands of uninhabited cays scattered across more than 100,00 square miles, there is plenty to go around. The pristine turquoise waters along with the islands’ secluded bays and white sandy beaches that make up the Exumas provide ample opportunities for amazing snorkelling and scuba diving, while ashore they offer vibrant culture.

Dance the night away at your own private beach club

No longer seen as just an access point to a yacht’s watertoys, beach clubs on yachts have come a long way in the past few decades. Their great appeal lies not just in being by the water’s edge but also in the extra open space they provide for relaxation. JOY’s large beach club is one of the most popular spaces on board, bringing guests closer to the water while blurring the lines between an outdoor and indoor retreat. Come sunset and the cinema space and video wall can then also be used to entertain all ages, or be transformed into a party venue with disco lighting.
