The go-to places to visit this summer
Published 18 June 2024
Our charter experts keep their fingers firmly on the cultural pulse of the Mediterranean’s must-visit hot-spots. This is their list of the places you need to be in summer 2024.
French Riviera
Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton – Saint-Tropez
LVMH has handed over its restaurant at the White 1921 hotel, just off Place des Lices, to Arnaud Donckele, who runs two three-Michelin-starred restaurants. Together with esteemed pastry chef Maxime Frédéric, they are celebrating the sights, scents and flavours of the South of France in a relaxed, pool-side environment.
Loulou – Ramatuelle
Towards the northern end of the legendary Plage Pampelonne, you’ll find the latest of the Loulou restaurants that have established such a fine reputation in Paris, Val d-Isere and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Wonderful local produce is prepared with reverential simplicity and enjoyed in a happening ambiance.
Verde Beach – Ramatuelle
Set on the famous sands of Plage Pampelonne, Verde Beach is the latest Festif Verde opening following Paris and Dubai. Sunbeds, parasols and post-4pm DJ beats are the order of the day at this afternoon venue. Modern Mediterranean dishes celebrate excellent local produce with views across the bay.
Italy
Dream Beach Club by Conca del Sogno – Nerano
Tucked away in the heavenly Recommone Bay near Nerano on the southern tip of the Sorrentine Peninsula, this new beach club, which has a tender dock, is getting rave reviews already. Expect a huge range of lounging areas, fantastic cocktails, gin-clear waters and excellent dining, especially seafood.
La Fontelina – Capri
Perfectly positioned since 1949 on the west side of the peninsula that ends in the iconic Faraglioni Rocks, this is a wonderful place to visit for sunset. There are various sunbed lounges scattered across the limestone plateaux that lead down to the clearest waters and excellent Italian seafood to be enjoyed beneath a rustic pergola.
Lo Scoglio da Tommaso – Nerano
Take the tender to the jetty at Marina del Cantone, below Nerano, to reach this beach-side restaurant with three dining areas: The Deck, The Dock and The Terrace Grill. Expect classic Mediterranean fare, fresh from the sea and the De Simone’s family farm lovingly prepared with an emphasis on simplicity and authenticity.
Greece
Nammos – Mykonos
Set on the beach of this exclusive resort complex in the south-west of the island, Nammos serves Mediterranean cuisine with gentle Asian tweaks and sushi that celebrates the bounty of the sea at your feet. Take your tender to the jetty and make a night of it with DJs spinning pumping tunes into the early hours.
Calilo – Ios
Set on an east-facing bay in the south of the island, just north of a helipad if you want to arrive in style, Calilo is another resort set on the soft sands of the Aegean. Big fans of the field-to-fork ethos, the resort’s own kitchen garden and beehive ensure salads, vegetables and drizzling honey are as fresh as the fish caught that morning.
Croatia
Carpe Diem Beach – Hvar
The Pakleni island of Marinkovac lies just off the perennial superyacht stop of Hvar. The island is essentially the beach club. Go night swimming in the underwater lights, dance ‘til dawn at one of two clubs, enjoy the swings and the watertoys or just settle into a cabana. Dine on sushi and beach-club classics like burgers and steaks. What’s not to love?
Balearics
10.7 – Formentera
Facing south-west on Playa Migjorn, one of the island’s best beaches, this is a great place to while away the day splashing in the turquoise waters. It’s perfectly positioned for toasting the sunset too, before dining on brilliantly reviewed Asian-influenced Mediterranean dishes and some of the best sushi on the island.
Cala Duo – Formentera
Right next to the port, overlooking the azure waters of Es Cavall d'en Borras, is Cala Duo. This is a cool new venture that is fast gaining 5/5 reviews and a gleaming reputation for amazing views, great service, a wonderful vibe, fantastic seafood and spectacular mojitos. It’s the island’s newest place-to-be.
