CRYSTAL LADY – ‘enjoy the simple pleasures in life’

Burgess is representing the seller for the sale of the 35m (114.8ft) Warren Yachts CRYSTAL LADY, asking AUD 7,900,000 (EUR 4,850,000, USD 5,250,000). This all-Australian yacht was delivered in 2002 with Phil Curran/Peter Lowe exteriors and interiors by the serial award winner Sam Sorgiovanni. Having been relentlessly maintained and upgraded throughout her life, today the yacht is positively gleaming after a 2023 refit, as this video demonstrates.

We spoke to Brock Schutt (above), Captain on the Sydney-based 35m motor yacht, about what makes the yacht such a compelling purchase opportunity.

Hello Captain Brock! How long have you known Chris Santon and how did you meet?
I’ve known Chris for many years, having worked with him on a previous superyacht programme. His exceptional skills as a captain and his expertise in the field make him the perfect broker to showcase this incredible vessel.

You have captained CRYSTAL LADY for a while now, how easy or difficult is she to operate?
I’m delighted to report that CRYSTAL LADY is a pleasure to captain and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last three years on board. She is a powerful, fast and reliable vessel with large propellers that make manoeuvring and docking effortless.

Guests and crew enjoy smooth sailing when underway thanks to the Naiad stabiliser system and the quick, easy tender crane operation ensures a speedy tender launch to explore ports of call at a moment’s notice. While a tour is essential to truly appreciate her many features, rest assured this vessel is well equipped for anything from a dream voyage to a local spin around the harbour.

How would you describe CRYSTAL LADY's mechanical and cosmetic condition?
‘Turnkey’ is a 100-percent accurate description for CRYSTAL LADY. This vessel is sound, safe and ready to take on a voyage to a remote location of your choice.
The maintenance is up to date with the main engines recently serviced and ready to go.

It is honestly a credit to the owner having spared no expense to keep this vessel in prime condition. I look forward to showing a potential buyer through the engine room to prove her immaculate condition, but even the untrained eye can appreciate the teak decks and paintwork that are in showroom condition, along with stainless hardware polished like a mirror.

What upgrades has CRYSTAL LADY received since delivery?
As technology constantly changes, we regularly update the vessel’s systems. For example, to bring the AVIT up to date, we have recently installed the latest Apple TVs in every cabin for streaming and integrated the entire vessels sound system to be controlled by one iPad. The ship’s navigation equipment and software were also updated recently.

With your guest head on, what are the most appealing features of CRYSTAL LADY?
CRYSTAL LADY is a place to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Guests can take in the beautiful cruising scenery from anywhere on the vessel while finding new anchorages to spend the day.

The aft deck is a great place for family time. On a warm sunny day, adults can relax in the lounge keeping an eye on their children swimming or fishing off the back, or enjoying the many watertoys. When it’s time for lunch, the family can gather around the aft dining table and enjoy freshly caught grilled fish or a gourmet meal from your own private chef.

With the tender and toys launched, the upper aft deck transforms into a large open space with comfortable sun lounges, a great place to settle into a book or work on your tan. Up front, the jacuzzi is the perfect way to unwind after a long day of fun in the sun before settling inside for a cinema experience in the lounge before bed.

If celebrations are in order, this boat also caters well for large groups. Whether a New Year’s Eve party cruise to take in the fireworks with your friends, or a corporate function to reward your staff, CRYSTAL LADY is the ultimate venue.

With a top speed of 27 knots and a draft of 2.4m (7.9ft), which cruising grounds would you say best suit a yacht like CRYSTAL LADY?
The vessel has a 1,600nm range, so the world is your oyster, and the shallow draft means the vessel is capable of anchoring close to shore in the best, most secluded spots. My first place to take CRYSTAL LADY would be the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef, but she would suit Florida and The Bahamas equally well, the Greek Islands, Croatia – she’s perfect for any archipelago with hideaway creeks and beautiful shallow bays.

Which type of buyer would CRYSTAL LADY best suit?
To me CRYSTAL LADY is a modern classic with the power for speed, the comfort for distance and an elegance that would grace any anchorage. It’s a potent combination that makes her best suited to a discerning owner who wants to enjoy the best of yachting.

The vessel is currently set up for a family voyage, however I like the fact that a buyer has the option to rearrange the tender deck to accommodate two jetskis and a smaller tender, while the vessel has the capability to tow a large tender or centre console boat. There is also plenty of storage for inflatable watertoys, sea pools and dive gear. She’s a wonderfully versatile yacht.

CRYSTAL LADY is on the market asking AUD 7,900,000 (EUR 4,850,000, USD 5,250,000). As an experienced marine professional, what sort of value would you say that represents and why?
Compared to other vessels on the market, the value is in the larger size and an ideal layout. CRYSTAL LADY is a solidly built vessel with ocean passage capabilities and that’s pretty rare at this size and price point. Not all vessels are made equal. CRYSTAL LADY is definitely a cut above.
