Published 31 octobre 2022
A charter to Greece is an experience like no other. Whether you’re drawn to the awesome sights of antiquity or hip island nightlife, you’re guaranteed magical sunsets, beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine and crystal clear turquoise seas on your Greek adventure. B There: Where should I go on an explorer yacht holiday to Greece?
|
You are also never far from a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greece. If you are moored in Athens Marina, venture inland to the astounding Acropolis, cradle of ancient Greek civilisation. Take a helicopter ride and fly over the sacred site of Delphi, where people travelled from all over the classical world to consult the oracle. The only thing you need to consult is your watch to make sure you’re back for pre-dinner cocktails.
B Excited: What exciting things can I do in Greece and the Greek islands?
As your captain takes you from one idyllic island to the next, the choice is yours: relax on the sands or get the pulse racing in the sea. The Greek waters are the perfect place for the watertoys to come out to play!
Go parasailing and snorkelling in Santorini, one of the most beautiful islands in the world, and jet ski around the sweeping coastline of Paros. If scuba is your passion, dive down to the ruins of the sunken city of Pavlopetri, lost under the seas since 1000 BC, or learn to wakeboard in the waters around Naxos.
B Cultural: Experiencing another side of Greece
It’s not just about soaking up the sun on your Greece charter. History is everywhere in this country of ancient monuments, mountain-top monasteries and archaeological treasures.
Walk amongst the stones of one of the great civilisations of the ancient world. From the temple of Hephaestus and the Parthenon in Athens, to Mount Olympus and other places associated with Greek mythology, take your time to explore these sites rich with wonder and legend.

From the temple of Hephaestus and the Parthenon in Athens, to Mount Olympus and other places associated with Greek mythology, take your time to explore these sites rich with wonder and legend. The monastic tradition in the Greek Orthodox Church is very strong, and visitors never cease to be amazed by where religious settlements are located. You will find monasteries perched on the top of mountains, like Meteora, or clinging perilously to cliffs. At Meteora in central Greece the intrepid visitor can scale steps carved into the rockface to reach the monastic houses that are open to the public. The famous monasteries of Mount Athos are harder to visit, but your captain will happily take you as close as he can (there is a 500 metre exclusion zone). Plus you may also have the pleasure of dolphins for company! Other sights to look out for are the iconic Mykonos windmills, the Achilleion palace in Corfu, the Palamidi fortress in Nafplio and the Acropolis at Lindos, where the sunsets are spectacular! B Well: Will I be able to relax and unwind while exploring Greece? You can be sure that your every need will be looked after while you are on board one of our yachts. Almost every one of our charter fleet come with fully equipped spas, gyms, deck bars and restaurants, lounging areas both above and below deck, swimming pools, indoor and outdoor cinemas. |
Your day might start with a light breakfast on the sun deck, taking in the beautiful views of your anchorage, followed by a gentle workout in the gym with your personal instructor. Why not then chill out with a spa treatment or two and maybe a massage in the steam room?
If you’re out and about during the day, evenings are mellow and magical. Take your time relaxing in your luxury cabin, savour pre-dinner drinks at the sundeck bar and a delicious evening meal cooked by your highly experienced chef. After dinner, settle down under blankets and catch a movie on your charter yacht’s outdoor cinema, or enjoy a cocktail as the sun goes down on another wonderful day of your Greek adventure.
B Active: How can I explore ashore?
Sometimes it’s good to be your own boss for the day. Your captain will always try and moor close to an island or city and give you the chance to explore the local area. All our boats have tenders and crew will be on hand to take you to and from the shore.
If you’re close to Athens, we recommend taking a trip to Mount Lycabettus, the highest point of the city. A funicular railway goes right to the peak up the hillside. The circular walk is more rewarding, if a little challenging in the summer heat. There are spectacular views from the top, especially at sunset, as the monuments of the Acropolis are illuminated.
The more adventurous might want to check out the Mani Peninsula, the middle ‘prong’ of the Peloponnese, with its mountainous terrain, coastal villages and ancient ruins. Be sure to explore the Diros caves, a deep network of stalactite-rich caverns and strange rock formations. A short hop across the Mediterranean and you reach the ‘Caribbean’ Greek island of Elafonisos, its golden beaches lapped by exotic waters.
E-bikes are a great way to get about Greece, and there are pick up and charge points on many of the most popular islands and cities. Most of our yachts have them on board too. Make climbing those mountain roads a little bit easier!

B Front Row: Exclusive events to attend in Greece
What could be more glamorous than being whisked from your tender by limousine to the latest superclub and dancing through the night?
Take your pick of some of the most exclusive venues in Greece, from Void in Mykonos to 54 Dreamy Nights in Corfu town. The latter has a retractable ceiling, so revellers can catch the night sky when the temperature heats up on the dancefloor!
Cebu in Zante offers gourmet dining by night before transforming into the coolest club on the party island. Sip cocktails and watch fireworks at chic beach parties in Mykonos, or mix with the A-listers at Athens Fashion Week.
Dance till the sun comes up. Chill out back on deck. Bliss, courtesy of Burgess.
For something more cultural, how about the Athens Epidaurus Festival, where you sit under the stars on the slopes of the Acropolis watching the plays and music that would have entertained the ancients?
B Looked After: What awaits me onboard?
On our yachts you can just kick back and relax. Your staff will make it their duty to give you the most wonderful holiday, seeing to your every need. Sink deep in the luxurious lounges of the MAGNA GRECIA, feel the bubbles of the jacuzzi of the O’PTASIA, look forward to lazy lunches and sumptuous gourmet dinners in open air restaurants.
If you want something a bit different from the charter experience, try the MALTESE FALCON, a multi-award winning 3-masted sailing yacht with an Art Deco interior.
Take a 360 virtual tour of any of our yachts to see what luxury life looks like on board.
B Passionate: Will I learn about marine life and conservation?
At Burgess we are dedicated to making our charter experiences more sustainable, and giving our guests an insight into the wonderful marine life of our destinations. Travelling with us, you will be able to get up close to animals like dolphins, whales, seals and sea turtles. You can do this from on deck or – when it is safe to do so for the sealife – through diving and scuba sessions.
You will also find out about the amazing work that goes on in Greece to preserve natural habitats for wildlife and protect endangered species. Your captain may be able to get the permissions needed for you to see how marine conservation groups in Greece help to keep young loggerhead sea turtles safe in Kefalonia, or to go on research boats collecting data on dolphin pods in the Alonnisos national marine park.
