The RENAISSANCE of charter

As RENAISSANCE sails through her first Mediterranean summer, we talk to Bosun Vasileios Oikonomou about his team, and how they take watersports to the next level...

When RENAISSANCE launched in 2023 she raised the bar for superyachts globally. This year she sets a new benchmark in the Mediterranean charter experience. The 112m yacht comfortably accommodates large parties of up to 36 guests, with seven-star facilities and service.

Burgess charter guests are taking the opportunity to come aboard this exceptional yacht, and the crew are working 24/7 in anticipation. Vasileios joined RENAISSANCE before launch and has been fine-tuning his team to deliver a charter vacation like no other. 

‘We are very excited to meet guests as they come on board RENAISSANCE for the first time. The yacht makes such an amazing impact. The five full exterior decks, two Jacuzzis, the swimming pool and spa… 

‘I think that guests will love the main deck aft. We have the space set up with bars, cooking stations and a pizza oven by the pool, so that people can relax together with a drink and some food. It is a great way to start their charter with us.’

A solid crew is the foundation for every charter yacht, as Vasileios knows from his long career on 95m+ charter yachts. 

‘I can say, after 21 years’ experience on large yachts, that we have one of the best teams I have ever worked with. They are doing really well, and I trust them completely. We also have a lot of fun. 

‘Everybody brings their own personality and skills to the yacht. Jordi and Shea drive our two limousine tenders, and charter guests will get to know them very well. Derik, Liam and Marco also drive the four tenders, and take guests ashore in the beach lander. 

'JC runs the sports tender and he's very experienced with deep sea fishing - so, he can take out a charter guest for an amazing day of fishing. Plus, we have gear for fishing off the stern, which is great for younger guests to catch a fish for their dinner.’  

RENAISSANCE offers watersports in abundance, and it seems that Vasileios and his team have thought through every detail. 

‘It is important that the guests can all have fun on, and in, the water at the same time if they want to. We have 10 jet skis and waverunners, 10 SeaBobs, wakeboards in all different sizes from junior to adults, so there is a lot of exciting sports to try. Derik, Harry and Kat are watersport instructors to help guests learn and improve their skills.

‘We can find a sheltered bay to set up for our guests. We will load the equipment into one of our tenders, and take the guests in the limo tenders. The limos become a base for guests while they try the different sports, with music and drinks while they relax as well.

‘For people climbing out of the water, we have extra carbon-fibre steps on all the tenders. They are wide and strong, so no one needs to struggle to get back onto the boats.’

As RENAISSANCE is a yacht for all ages, the team have everything ready for younger families as well.

‘The 10m beach lander is really good for taking guests ashore as it can go right up onto the sand. Guests can just step onto the beach without getting wet. It is also a very fast boat, going 38 knots if we need to.

‘For young children, we can take the inflatables up to the shore and anchor in shallower water within easy distance of the beach. This would be part of a beach set up, maybe with chef making a lunch for the beach party as well.

‘Kat is one of our crew who loves watersports, and she is very good with showing the children how to use everything and have a lot of fun. Kris is a professional lifeguard and our on board paramedic- because guest safety is never in question on RENAISSANCE.’

For those wanting a slower pace, RENAISSANCE also has kayaks and SUPs. ‘We also have electric bikes to take ashore and explore the local area or around the port. One fun thing is to try the water bikes! Plus they are a great workout.’

With so much on offer, the guests can anticipate trying all the equipment. Vasileios thinks that there is one that will be a favourite.

‘The e-surfs (electric surfboards) are going to be very popular. It is like a wakeboard that you control, and we have 8 of them so that is going to be a lot of fun. We also have e-foils that come up above the surface. We have the instructors, so guests can get really good – they are going to love those too.’
