Space is at a premium aboard any yacht, regardless of size. Optimised yacht storage makes crew service run smoothly and accommodates a wider range of guests’ needs. Practical functionality is found in the smallest of spaces. Clever wine storage, including in-stair drawers, can add wow factor. Hidden cupboards with discreet access are another way to disguise functional spaces, while TVs can transition to artwork when not in use. Making each space work harder is the key - like the swimming pool that doubles up as sunken tender storage on the foredeck. 

Quality linen

Every bed or dining table is uniquely created to suit the superyacht and its owner, and likewise for the boat bedding and table linen. Designed to suit a specific size, shape, colour and quantity, every pillow, sheet and table runner should represent the pinnacle of yacht interiors. From a 1000-thread-count duvet in a jacquard finish to a Tibetan wool throw draped across the back of a dining chair, this final flourish sets a scene that frames the entire interior design language.  

Versatile tableware

While most yacht interior accessories remain permanently on show, dining sets often centre around themed evenings and different cuisines – Bouillabaisse soup bowls one night, sushi bowls and chopsticks the next. It’s also vital to cater for both formal and casual options, including child-friendly outdoor dining sets and the all-important impromptu beach barbecue set up.

Flatware and crockery can be personalised, and glassware engraved, but drilling down on bespoke options includes finding crockery to fit pre-made onboard holders. Having multiple collections of china, silverware and glasses with matching serviceware is always highly advisable.

Hard-working towels 

One item guaranteed to be required more than anything else onboard is the humble towel. Guests’ bathroom preferences differ wildly, with some expecting clean towels every day and others opting to leave a lighter carbon footprint. But when enjoying beach excursions, watersports and lounging on deck in the sun, there’s little escaping the constant need for clean, dry, top-quality towels. Light coloured towels are prone to staining, particularly from guests’ tanning products. Dark coloured towels are likely to fade, bleached by the sun and laundry detergents. Whichever route is preferred, personalisation is a non-negotiable that cements a yacht’s branding with style. 

Layered lighting

Few things rival a starry night sky for an illuminating finishing touch. That said, superyacht interior design relies on discreet yet functional lighting to create an inviting ambience that gradually transitions from day to night. Portable lighting options, such as battery-operated lamps, move around to suit shifting scenarios and throw light into hard-to-reach shady corners. Sculptural installations and artistic chandeliers also work as convenient lighting options. But for something a little different, multicoloured disco bulbs, living digital walls and underwater lights can transform a space, whether exterior or interior, with the flick of a switch.

Outside space is equally expansive and is fully committed to enjoyment and relaxation, with two jacuzzis, multiple al fresco dining and lounging areas and a huge Ocean Lounge beach club area. 

SKYLER

SKYLER was built in GRP to RINA classification and MCA compliance and has plenty of tenders and toys. The sun deck has a raised jacuzzi forward, open-air dining, a sit-up bar, BBQ and lounge beneath a retractable bimini. There’s more open-air dining on the bridge deck aft and she has a foredeck lounge, large swim platform and beach club. The man saloon has huge picture windows and sidedeck access through and sliding glass doors. She sleeps 12 guests in five cabins and the full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck has slide-out terraces. She has a range of 4,000nm at 11 knots and Naiad zero speed stabilisers.
