'This is what we've been looking for!'

Burgess Yacht Management and Burgess Charter Management have created a secure owner's dashboard to give our owners immediate access to real-time information about their yacht.

The owner's dashboard is the realisation of a long-held a goal for Burgess. ‘I’m delighted to say that this is now a reality,’ says Burgess’ Head of Yacht Management, Ryan Green. 'This is the 360 Burgess service in action.'

‘It started as a Yacht Management tool but it has grown into all aspects of our offering,’ Green adds. ‘It embraces the full service we deliver for our clients and gives the owner direct visibility to how we’re assisting their yacht.

‘Instead of having to email a charter manager, yacht manager or accountant,’ Green continues, ‘owners of Burgess-managed yachts can now access a secure, centralised space where all of this information exists in an intuitive, easy-to-read format.’

‘We’re always looking at how we can give an even better service to the owners of our charter fleet and we instantly saw the potential here,’ says Head of Charter Management, Frederica Findlater. ‘While we want to give owners the full picture of how we’re managing their charter business, we don’t want to inundate them with emailed data. This dashboard allows them to find out as much or as little as they want, whenever they want.’

This much-anticipated desktop and mobile service, unique to Burgess, is a single place where Burgess owners can go to find out everything they need to know about their yacht. From finances to availability, crew to charter income, yacht location to industry news, everything is accessible in one place – and there’s more to come.

‘This is the very first phase of development,’ said project leader Tash Trenear-Harvey, Yacht Management’s Business Operations Manager. ‘We’ve still got Retail Charter, Brokerage, Crew recruitment and Procurement to add in due course. It will grow a lot.’

Another key area of development is on the finance side. Having migrated to more stable, secure servers and updated to latest Zap dashboard and version 12 of Sage X3’s accounting software, there are big plans for more functionality.

'The owner's dashboard provides a simple platform for further market leading developments in finance,' says Alexander Dye, Head of Yacht Management Finance. 'Our clients will be able to securely view and authorise invoices without the need for email. This all feeds into our finance dashboard, regularly updated with operating specific data held in Sage X3.'

Designed to collate this information automatically, the dashboard brings together data held by Burgess to populate the relevant fields. ‘For our owners and captains,’ concludes Green, ‘we’re hoping there will be an element of ownership and engagement, almost at a social media level. This is about the best side of ownership.’
